Question:

How long does it take for Landsat 7 and/or Landsat 8 Real-Time scenes to be reprocessed into Tier 1 or Tier 2?

Answer:

For Landsat 7, it will take about 26 days after acquisition for a Real-Time scene to be processed into either Tier 1 or Tier 2, due to the time needed to finalize calibration and bumper mode parameters.

For Landsat 8, in order to apply the updated Thermal Infrared Sensor (TIRS) line-of-sight model parameters, it will take about 14 to 16 days after acquisition for a Real-Time scene to be processed into either Tier 1 or Tier 2.

About

Landsat represents the world's longest continuously acquired collection of space-based moderate-resolution land remote sensing data. Four decades of imagery provides a unique resource for those who work in agriculture, geology, forestry, regional planning, education, mapping, and global change research. Landsat images are also invaluable for emergency response and disaster relief.
