The NDMI is the only national institute for scientific research and policy development on disaster management in the Republic of Korea. During the last 20 years, The NDMI has conducted various research activities focusing on the traditional disaster realm such as flood, typhoon, heavy-snow, and landslide and so on. NDMI is at the moment facing challenges to integrate new technologies such as Satellite, Remote sensing, Big-Data, Virtual Reality (VR), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) with various policies to guarantee social safety.

Landsat represents the world's longest continuously acquired collection of space-based moderate-resolution land remote sensing data. Four decades of imagery provides a unique resource for those who work in agriculture, geology, forestry, regional planning, education, mapping, and global change research. Landsat images are also invaluable for emergency response and disaster relief.
