Frequently Asked Questions about the Landsat Missions

Return to the FAQ

Question:
Why did my requested scenes fail to process?

Answer:

Technical issues can prevent scenes from processing successfully. These images will be removed from the online catalog. In the future, there will be investigations into these failures. If a solution is found, the scene will be added back into our online archive.

Most of the rejected scenes are the result of a paucity of Payload Correction Data (PCD). This ancillary data includes information that accompanies the scenes - location of spacecraft during acquisition, spacecraft pointing information, amount of jitter in the spacecraft, etc.
