LDCM Calibration and Validation Activities

Calibration and Validation (Cal/Val) is an important aspect of any remote sensing system, to ensure integrity of user products. The goal of the LDCM Cal/Val team is to ensure the radiometric, geometric, and spatial accuracy of remotely sensed imagery.

This goal is met through five functions:

  1. Develop characterization, correction and calibration algorithms
  2. Characterize sensor performance
  3. Determine calibration parameters
  4. Characterize product performance
  5. Anomaly resolution

These functions operate throughout the life cycle of the sensor, and begin before launch and continue throughout on-orbit operations. Future plans also include building an LDCM observatory imagery data simulator.
