Landsat Missions
The overall responsibility of the Landsat Science Team is to offer informed advice and recommendations to the USGS and other partners on topics that will affect the overall success of the LDCM mission. The Team members must be knowledgeable on topics related to more effective use of archived data from Landsat sensors and on the requirements for future sensors needed to address the needs of scientists and other users of Landsat-type data.
Although the panel's role is advisory, each member will be engaged in research that contributes to the LDCM vision. Landsat Science Team members will address many specific objectives:
A critical Landsat Science Team role is to provide broad perspectives on future strategic topics. The LDCM implementation teams must focus on mission-specific problems and do not have the luxury of investigating emerging science opportunities. It will be the Landsat Science Team's responsibility to identify new science opportunities and develop strategies to pursue them.
