Frequently Asked Questions about the Landsat Missions

Return to the FAQ

Question:
After a Landsat scene is collected, when will it become available for search and download?

Answer:

Landsat scenes directly downlinked to the EROS Landsat Ground Station become visible on EarthExplorer or GloVis within 6 to 24 hours after acquisition.

Scenes downlinked to other USGS Ground Stations can be available within 1 to 2 weeks. Scenes downlinked to International Ground Stations may become available in the USGS archive, but the station that collects the data is the primary distributor.

The Landsat Acquisition page provides acquisition calendars and information about daily schedules.
