Question:
Can an acquisition request be made for a specific date and location?

Answer:

Landsat 7 is not a tasking satellite and data acquisition requests are not available to the general public. Because the primary objective is to acquire and deliver data according to the Long Term Acquisition Plan (LTAP), a "seasonality file" has been developed for Landsat 7, which specifies the location and intended frequency of prospective scene collects. This file provides daily input, which is submitted and subsequently prioritized by the Landsat 7 scheduler.

Scene scheduling and prioritization is based on a number of criteria, including the predicted cloud cover for that date/location, as well as the length of time that has elapsed since the previous image collect for that location.

The Pending Acquisitions and Archive on the Acquisition Web page provides details of the daily captures, acquisition calendars, and holds the archive of capture schedules.
