April 27, 2015 - NASA, USGS Begin Work on Landsat 9

NASA and the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) have started work on Landsat 9, planned to launch in 2023, which will provide mission-critical continuity in the Earth-observing program’s record of land images. (Read More)

April 23, 2015 - Landsat 8 Data Processing Changes

New production code was released today to enhance the usability of Landsat 8 products. Some of the planned changes were postponed in favor of coordinating new features in Landsat 8 with similar changes in Landsats 4-7 TM and ETM+ scheduled for the fall/winter of 2015. Other features expected to impact users have also been added since the last Landsat Update published February 27. Please see this month's Landsat Update for details.

April 16, 2015 - Landsat 8 Thermal Data Reprocessing Update

Beginning April 30, 2015, Landsat 8 scenes acquired from December 19, 2014 to March 13, 2015 will be reprocessed to include valid TIRS data. The reprocessing effort is expected to complete by May 18, 2015. TIRS data for a number of scenes will not be processed due to non-nominal instrument configuration. (Read More).
